ASIA PACIFIC - 03 May 2010 : Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, has announced the appointment of Mr. Chris Taylor as Senior Regional Director for ASEAN, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea. In his new role, Mr. Taylor will be responsible for guiding Polycom's business strategy and extending its market share across all of these territories, which together form one of the largest regions in Polycom's Asia Pacific business. Specifically, Mr. Taylor will lead Polycom's sales, pre-sales technical support and channel management teams to deliver best-in-class High Definition (HD) telepresence, video, and voice customer solutions and services to customers.
Previously, Mr. Taylor had held the position of Asia Pacific Director of Polycom Global Services since 2006, leading one of the largest video services organisations in the region in meeting the needs of customers and consistently achieving strong revenue growth. Prior to joining Polycom, Mr. Taylor held various management roles with a range of leading IT vendors in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions over a 20+ year period.
"Chris' appointment reflects the strategic importance of the ASEAN, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea markets for Polycom, and I am confident his experience and knowledge will help to further deepen relationships with our valued customers and partners – and to drive continued revenue growth," said Mr. Hansjoerg Wagner, Polycom's Vice President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific. "In particular, we see the Polycom Open Collaboration Network as a key mechanism to galvanise the growth of our integrated and unparallelled collaboration solutions, and to seize the tremendous market opportunity in the Unified Communications (UC) market over time."
Through the Polycom Open Collaboration Network, Polycom partners with the leaders in network infrastructure and unified communications – such as HP, IBM, Microsoft, Avaya, Juniper and Siemens – to provide customers open and interoperable collaboration solutions that enable full UC integration and protect existing IT investments. By working with these leading platform providers, Polycom is able to deliver its productivity-enhancing and cost-saving HD telepresence, video and voice collaboration products as an integrated part of core UC environments – making the technologies easily accessible to end users in their daily workflows, and easy for IT organisations to deploy and manage.
Importantly, Polycom's Open Collaboration Network strategy avoids the need for organisations to 'rip-and-replace' existing IT investments, in order to achieve significant competitive advantage from HD telepresence, video and voice collaboration solutions.
"I'm extremely excited by this new role. By definition, unified communications is open, and Polycom continues to help drive open standards and industry interoperability," said Mr. Taylor. "As a result, there is great opportunity for Polycom to further cement its leadership in HD voice, video and telepresence solutions going forward."
